Our awesome volunteer and friend, Deb Schaffran has invited you to her home for a cookout! After you come to the Murder Mystery Dinner on May 16, come to dinner at Deb’s on May 23rd. These events will keep us connected even after the regular Midweek schedule has finished for the year.

Hey everybody! Sorry that things have been slow around here…as you can see, I’ve been busy at home for a month or so. If you haven’t heard, Harris Oliver Warner was born on April 2. He’ll be hanging out at NHUMC for the next few Wednesdays and Sundays if you haven’t had a chance to meet him yet!

Meanwhile, our school-year programming is winding down as we gear up for summer. Here’s what’s coming in the next few weeks. Watch for more posts with details about special events!

Wednesday May 2 – MIDWEEK as usual

Sunday May 6 – Sunday school, Confirmation banquet

Wednesday May 9 – Last MIDWEEK until Fall

Sunday May 13 – Sunday school, Mother’s Day, Confirmation

Wednesday May 16 – SuperFLY MURDER MYSTERY Dinner (TIME CHANGE – 5:30 – 7:00pm)

Saturday May 19 – Serving at Wesley UMC (9am – 1pm, let Ross Dunbar or Rachael know if you want to come!)

Get a CAMP SCHOLARSHIP for 2012!

The Normandale Hylands UMW has established a long tradition of support for young people who wish to attend a United Methodist church camp. Hundreds of NHUMC youth have been the recipients of this assistance over the years. In 2012, the UMW will again offer camperships to our youth.
The rates for aid for 2012 have been established as follows: $60 (per camp year) toward a 5-day or longer camp, and $30 toward a mini or day camp. However, to qualify for the camperships, the following form must be completed and returned to Helen Eslinger, UMW treasurer, or brought to the Church Office. Once submitted, a check will be sent to the parent(s).

If you have any questions, please contact Helen Eslinger at (952)896-1136, or Pastor Don at (952)835-7585.

Deadline for camp scholarship applications is July 1.

Saturday Meals!

What better way to start your Saint Patrick’s Day than to come with us to Minneapolis to prepare and serve a meal to our homeless and hungry friends?

We need youth to help with the serving – contact Rachael or Ross Dunbar if you can help. We will meet at NHUMC at 9am and return around 1pm or so. Parents are welcome – a few drivers are always appreciated!

We had a great time at the Lightshiners Lock-In and serving at Wesley last weekend! We also had a blast tubing the weekend before!

Midweek is on for this Wednesday – hope to see you – tacos for dinner!

Plans are in full swing for the February 11th Sweethearts’ Dinner – all youth are invited to participate in serving, and proceeds from the dinner will benefit Imagine No Malaria as well as local outreach.

TONIGHT

All youth activities are on beginning with Youth Group Games in the Cement Room at 4:30pm. miniFLY and Bible Club at 5pm, SGW and Confirmation at 5:30pm, 15:24 Bible Study at 5:30pm, Choirs, etc. Dinner appears to be lasagna – YUM!

- Tubing at Buck Hill – this Sunday, January 15 after church – come out and spend the afternoon tubing! Cost is $16 for 2 hours of tubing plus bring your own food money if you want to hang out in the cafeteria and eat. Sign up on the sign up blog post OR sign up on Rachael’s door tonight!

- LIGHTSHINERS Lock-In – Friday January 20…it will be awesome! Sign up at choir tonight. Friends welcome! Grades 6-12.

UMYS FORMS are DUE TOMORROW (January 4). If you want to go, you MUST have your form in tomorrow with $140 payment. If we get 6 people who want to go, then we’ll go. If not, then we will not go as a group this year.
